For dentists

Orthodontic Study Group session

1) Background

At the end of 1997, Dr. Yoshikawa left Matsumoto Dental University after 18 years of service. In 1998, he opened the Yoshikawa Orthodontic Clinic in his hometown of Osaka. In 1999, he started to get requests from former students about opening a study group. After much preparation, he opened the Study Group in April 2000, hoping to share his 18 years of academic dentistry experience with the dental community

2) Activity/Training

As a member, the first year you will focus on lectures and practical training on teeth movement. The second year you will aspire to higher levels by focusing on cephalo-X-ray analysis training and articulator practical training. This is a workshop that focuses on practical training. In principle, this is a 2-year course, but we also allow a one-year membership. From the third year onward, members gather for friendly discussions and making presentations to each other. Throughout this time, we do model discussions on a regular basis to study practical orthodontic clinical examinations. I train you how to solve easy cases yourself. At the same time, we will accept refractory case referrals to Yoshikawa Orthodontic Clinic. I am looking forward to meeting you at the study meetings. Please contact me for more details.

The members of the first meeting were mostly graduates from Matsumoto Dental University. But from the second term, most members have been from other universities. The Study Group is by no means an academic clique. The door is open to anyone. Our growth is mostly by word-of mouth.
